Late Indira Gandhi sacrificed her life to protect the unity and integrity of the country: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Bhupesh Baghel has paid a humble tribute to former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary on 31 October. The message issued from the Chief Minister’s residence states that the late Indira Gandhi strived for the upliftment of the lifelong poor and the weaker sections of the society and sacrificed her life to protect the unity and integrity of the country. 

Late Gandhi gave a new direction to the country with foresight and firm intentions. Leading the country efficiently in challenging conditions, gave India a prestigious position on the international stage. The success of his Green Revolution program made the country self-sufficient in food production. Late Indira Gandhi was active in the freedom struggle of the country since childhood. He founded the Bal Charkha Sangh and formed the Vanar Sena of children during the Non-Cooperation Movement. 

As Prime Minister, he took drastic decisions such as nationalization of banks, abolition of kings privies. The rise of Bangladesh, India’s becoming a nuclear power nation were his major achievements. During his tenure, the Indian Space Research Organization was established and the first satellite Aryabhata was launched into space.
