Chhattisgarh: NIA arrested three Naxalites in MLA Bhima Mandavi murder case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested three people in connection with the murder of Chhattisgarh MLA Bhima Mandavi in ​​April 2019, allegedly by members of the banned outfit CPI (Maoist).

An NIA spokesperson said that the agency arrested Laxman Jaiswal, Ramesh Kumar Kashyap and Kumari Linge Tati, residents of Dantewada, on Tuesday for allegedly helping the Maoists in mobilizing equipment to carry out the attack. Mandavi and four of his security personnel were killed in this attack.
He said that the members of the CPI (Maoist) had also looted arms and ammunition of the policemen killed in the incident. A special NIA court in Jagdalpur directed the trio to be handed over to the agency for seven days in custody.
The Chhattisgarh Police was investigating the case before the NIA took over the investigation on 17 May 2019. The NIA arrested two suspects, Bhima Tati and Madka Ram Tati, on 7 April 2020 after handling the investigation of the case.

The spokesman said that Laxman Jaiswal alias Laxman Saw, who runs a grocery store in Nakulnar, had provided electrical wires, explosive material and other materials for the IED blast carried out by the Maoists. Accused Ramesh Kumar Kashyap alias Ramesh Hemla and Kumari Linge Tati were also involved in providing logistic and material to the Naxalites.
