A passenger airplane crashed into Lake Victoria in Tanzania.

By India Today Web Desk: A passenger airplane crashed into Lake Victoria in Tanzania on Sunday. 23 individuals are reported to have been rescued thus far.

Video and pictures of the incident on social media confirmed the airplane nearly drowned within the water line of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake.

The airplane which was travelling from Mwanza to Bukoba had 49 passengers and 23 have been rescued thus far based on the authorities, reported BBC News Africa.

Precision Air, Tanzania’s largest privately owned airline, recognized the airplane as flight PW 494 and mentioned it was “involved in an accident as it was approaching Bukoba Airport”, reported Reuters.
