Women in Iran are taking up the clerics as anti-hijab protests intensify. After the defiant act of knocking the turbans off the heads of clerics, girls have been seen asking clerics to pack their luggage and depart for asking them to put on hijab in public.

By India Today Web Desk: As protests over the demise of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini proceed to develop, Iranian girls are mounting a united entrance in opposition to the regime amid pushback from Islamic clerics. After the defiant act of knocking the turbans off the heads of clerics and working away, movies have emerged of girls taking up clerics who get them organized to put on hijab in public locations.

In a viral video, a lady may be heard asking a cleric to “mind his own business” as he tells her to “dress properly.” In one other, a cleric is heard telling a girls to put on hijab, to which the lady replies, “I don’t want to, you stupid man,” and walks off.

The protests in Iran, sparked by the demise of a 22-year-old girl after her detention by the nation’s morality police, have grown into one of many largest sustained challenges to the nation’s theocracy for the reason that months after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

‘THIS IS MY COUNTRY’

“This is my country. You can’t tell me where I can have hijab and where not,” a younger girl was heard saying to a cleric in one other viral clip.

To this the cleric responds, “If you don’t like the compulsory veil, go live with Masih Alinejad in England.” She lives within the US, not England, the lady reminds the cleric.

Iranian dissident and activist Masih Alinejad has been residing in exile within the US since fleeing Iran following the 2009 election.

“I won’t live abroad. I want to be like this in my own homeland. I want to live free in my own homeland,” one other girl is heard saying to a cleric.

‘PACK YOUR BAGS AND GO’

In a clip from a prepare station, one other Iranian girl tells a cleric to pack his bag and depart as she refuses to put on hijab.

“Enough of you clerics. Pack your bags and go. No one can say what I can and can’t wear. You have ruined this country,” the lady says as her voice drowns in applause.

“If you are aroused by a woman’s hair, then you are the problem. You have ruined the country for 40 years. Pack your suitcases,” says one other girl to a cleric as he requested her to cowl her hair.

Removing the turbans and publically opposing clerics have became an act of protest after the regime reportedly killed lots of of protesters. The worry of being accosted in public has even compelled some clerics to keep away from carrying their turbans and cloaks in public, The Daily Telegraph reported.

At least 328 folks have been killed and 14,825 others arrested within the unrest, in line with Human Rights Activists in Iran, a bunch that’s been monitoring the protests over final 54 days.
