One lifeless, seven injured in explosion aboard tanker off Hong Kong

One particular person was killed and 7 others injured Saturday in an explosion aboard an oil tanker in waters off Hong Kong, authorities reported.

The Hong Kong Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre mentioned the tanker was 300 km (186 miles) east of Hong Kong when it caught fireplace on account of an explosion. The fireplace was extinguished, in keeping with state-run Radio Television Hong Kong.

The Government Flying Service despatched a fixed-wing plane and two helicopters with docs aboard to the Panama-registered Chuang Yi vessel to move the injured to a hospital within the metropolis. One crew member was reported to have died and 4 others had been in critical situation, RTHK reported.

The casualties reportedly included crew members from Indonesia and Myanmar.

According to ship monitoring apps, the 5,500-ton oil and chemical tanker was on its technique to Taiwan. The 120-metre (393-foot) lengthy tanker is 22 years outdated.
