Narrow roads set off site visitors hassle for Kalunga industrial cluster

ROURKELA:  One of the oldest and largest industrial clusters in Odisha, Kalunga continues to grapple with insufferable site visitors on its slim roads with every day commuters bearing the heaviest brunt of the persistent downside.

The site visitors mess is compounded by the 2 slim method roads connecting Kalunga industrial property and adjoining Balanda gram panchayat, that are unable to offer easy passage to the large variety of heavy automobiles together with multi-axle vehicles and trailers.

“Adding to the woes of residents, the busy Howrah-Mumbai line of South Eastern Railway (SER) passes through Kalunga. To ease the traffic woes of villagers and daily commuters, two road over bridges (ROBs) at the level-crossings in Kalunga and the industrial estate were jointly sanctioned by SER and Odisha government. However, the projects are yet to see any physical progress. The traffic mess will be cleared if the ROBs are constructed and the narrow roads widened at the earliest,” Xess added.

Incidentally, the Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) had final 12 months proposed organising of a flyover connecting Vedvyas and Kalunga Saw Mill Chowk to divert heavy automobiles on to industries avoiding site visitors snarls on SH-10. 

RCCI president Pravin Garg stated the native authorities of Road and Building (R&B) Division of the Works division and IDCO had visited the proposed flyover website three months again and a beneficial report was despatched to Odisha authorities. The Kalunga industrial cluster wants improved and wider street communication for comfort of industries and native inhabitants, he added.
