COVID battle: To enable entry or not is Malkangiri’s dilemma

MALKANGIRI:  The State authorities directive to Collectors of six districts to shut their borders with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in wake of emergence of extra virulent N440K pressure of coronavirus has put the Malkangiri administration in a dilemma.

Hundreds of migrants are reaching the Motu border test level right here from the neighbouring States on daily basis and closure of the border would solely result in chaos, the district officers feared, whereas including that there isn’t any readability from governments of Odisha, AP and Telangana about restrictions on inter-State motion of migrants.

“The State government has directed the district magistrates to put up check points at the border. It has also asked the district administration to make provisions for 14-day institutional quarantine in temporary medical centres for people coming to Odisha from these two states. We are confused whether to allow them in or not”, stated an official, requesting anonymity.

Meanwhile, the Malkangiri administration has intensified surveillance on the Motu test level. Collector Yedulla Vijay visited the checkpoint on Wednesday and took inventory of the preparations put in place there. The district within the final 24 hours noticed 86 new optimistic circumstances and until Tuesday, 12,978 migrant staff have entered the district from AP, Telangana and different states.

In one other incident, a minor woman who was returning together with her migrant dad and mom from Hyderabad died close to Kaleru in Andhra Pradesh bordering Malkangiri district. A local of Nuapada district, the woman was ailing for a while. Receiving data, Motu Tehsildar Sashank Mishra rushed to the AP village and obtained the physique.
