Raipur: Chief Minister wishes National Sports Day

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, on the occasion of National Sports Day on 29th August, has greeted and congratulated the players and sports lovers of the state by remembering hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand. He said that Major Dhyanchand’s dedication to the game and the spirit of patriotism is inspiring for all of us.

    The Chief Minister said that the qualities of leadership, dedication, discipline develop in sportspersons from sports, these qualities should be in youth to succeed in every sphere of life along with sports. He said that the state government is constantly making efforts to increase sports infrastructure in order to promote youth in every field. Sports Development Authority has been constituted by the state government to promote sports talent of Chhattisgarh at national and international level. This will give the youth a chance to advance in the field of sports.

          It is noteworthy that to increase awareness among the general public about sports in the country, the birthday of Major Hockey player Major Dhyanchand is celebrated every year as Sports Day. With the magical game of Major Dhyanchand, India has won three gold medals in the Olympic Games. He has been awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third largest civilian award in the country by the Government of India.
