Martyr Shri Purnanand Sahu was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra by the President for his indomitable braveness and valor.

Martyr Pooranand Sahu, a constable of Cobra Battalion of CRPF, resident of village Junglepur in Rajnandgaon district, was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra by the President, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, for his indomitable braveness and valor. On receiving the Shaurya Chakra award to Shaheed Shri Pooranand Sahu, a delight program was organized in his village Jangalpur, the place numerous villagers together with the officers and staff of the district administration had reached the encircling villages. On this event, district administration officers and villagers paid homage by paying floral tributes on the statue of martyr Shri Pooranand Sahu.

In this proud second, the district administration and the villagers greeted them with flowers and garlands when the daddy of martyr Shri Purnand Sahu, Shri Laxman Sahu and mom Smt. Urmila Bai Sahu returned to Junglepur. Additional Collector Shri CL Markandeya and SDM Shri Hitesh Pisda paid tribute by laying wreath on the statue of martyr Shri Pooranand Sahu. At this second the village of Jangalpur reverberated with the chanting of Bharat Mata. Shaheed Shri Purnanand Sahu’s uncle Shri Prakash Sahu, Sister Ms. Onisha Sahu, Smt. Dumeshwari Sahu, Brother Shri Nilesh Sahu and SDOP Shri Ajit Ogre, Lalbagh Police Station Incharge Shri Jitendra Verma and different officers had been current.

It is noteworthy that on 10 February 2020, 204 CoBRA battalion personnel of CRPF had left for the anti-Naxal operation within the space in village Erapalli of Pamed police station of Bijapur. The celebration was shifting forward whereas looking that indiscriminate firing was began by the armed Naxalites with automated weapons. The constable of 204 Cobra Battalion of CRPF, Mr. Purnanand Sahu, with out caring for his life, gave a befitting reply to the firing of Naxalites. Even after being severely injured, Shri Poornanand Sahu continued to reply to the firing of Naxalites until his final breath. Seeing themselves weakening, the Naxalites ran away. In the encounter incident, 2 jawans together with constable Shri Purnanand Sahu of CRPF Cobra Battalion 204 had been martyred and 4 officers and staff had been injured. Shaheed Shri Pooranand Sahu has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously by the President for his indomitable braveness and valor.
