Forest Department seizes unlawful logs, planks value Rs 6 lakh

Forest Department seized unlawful logs and planks value Rs 6 lakh within the raids on 4 noticed mills in Dhamtari Forest Division. Forest Department is conducting incessant motion on unlawful chopping and transportation of woods. To this finish, a staff of Forest Department raided 4 noticed mills of Dhamtari after receiving a tip-off through the evening patrol on December 30. The Forest staff confiscated 493 items of Arjun wooden logs, 6,717 of Arjun wooden planks. The price of confiscated wooden is estimated to be round Rs 6 lakh. On the route of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Rakesh Chaturvedi and on the steerage of Chief Conservator of Forest J R Nayak, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Dhamtari led a staff to raid noticed mills at village Reewagahan, Kosmarra and Kachna. At village Reewagahan of Forest Range Dhamtari, officers raided the noticed mill of Chetanram Sahu and confiscated 1278 items of Arjun wooden planks. In the Tehsil Kurud, officers raided a noticed mill owned by one Mahesh Kumar Sahu at village Kosmarra and confiscated 359 items of Arjun logs and 1024 Arjun planks and through the raid at Saw Mill of Vedprakash Sahu, staff seized 20 items of Arjun logs and 50 items of Arjun planks. Besides, within the fourth raid on a noticed mill owned by a pair Puja Shukla and Anil Shukla underneath Kurud Tehsil, staff seized 76 items of Arjun logs and 4,365 items of Arjun planks.
