Assistant Commandant Vikas Singhal injured in IED blast in Sukma

Vikas Singhal, Assistant Commandant of the Cobra Battalion, who was hit by an IED blast laid by Naxalites in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, died in a private hospital in Raipur. Vikas was hit by IED blast in Sukma on Sunday. After this, he was brought to Raipur in a critically injured state by an Air Force helicopter. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pachperi Naka. But the doctors could not save them.

On Sunday, Vikas went out on a search with his fellow soldiers. This team of Cobra Battalion is stationed at Palodi. A troop of soldiers left for area domination. Searching was done in the vicinity. Near Kasaram village, the soldiers’ eyes fell on the IEDs planted by the Naxalites. Naxalites had put it on the soldiers for the purpose of attack.

Members of CRPF’s BDS (Bomb Disposal Squad) team were blasting and destroying the recovered IEDs. Naxalites had also placed a second IED at a short distance. The second IED was also blasted while blasting the recovered IED. The Deputy Commandant was seriously injured and two other soldiers also suffered minor injuries in the wake of the second IED blast.
