IPL 2022: Brendon McCullum an aggressive coach, wanting ahead to working with him – Shreyas Iyer

After having labored with Rcky Ponting at Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer stated he’s wanting ahead to working with Brendon McCullum at Kolkata Knight Riders within the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, calling him an ‘aggressive coach’.

Shreyas Iyer was appointed because the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2022. He was purchased by the 2-time champions for Rs 12.5 crore as they spent huge on the mega public sale on Iyer after releasing Eoin Morgan who led them to the ultimate final season.

Iyer, who had led Delhi Capitals to their maiden IPL ultimate in 2020, was not retained by Delhi forward of the mega public sale. Iyer had a superb working relationship with Ponting because the duo efficiently reworked the Delhi facet which has reached the play-offs in two successive years.

Having had success as a captain within the IPL, Iyer stated he’s wanting ahead to construct on the legacy of KKR which gained the title in 2012 and 2014 underneath Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy.

“You know, for me to be part of the KKR family is an enormous feeling. I want to really appreciate the work which has been done by all the great players in the past and I would like to follow the same footsteps, which they have created for KKR,” Iyer stated in an interview with the franchise.

“Brendon McCullum as a coach I feel is very aggressive. Even when you saw him playing for his country (New Zealand), he was someone who was very aggressive and he is kind of a risk-taker.

“And I completely love that. Obviously, I’ve had few interactions with him after the public sale. He’s acquired that calm manner and I’m actually wanting ahead to working with him, and to have some very profitable seasons for KKR over time.”

MY HEART WAS PUMPING: IYER

Iyer was set to create a bidding struggle and he triggered one because the likes of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans have been additionally attempting to get the star batter. KKR finally purchased the participant with a profitable bid of Rs 12.25 crore.

Iyer stated he was watching the IPL 2022 public sale on tv with the India teammates as he was a part of the squad for the house sequence in opposition to the West Indies.

“I was watching the auction and KKR went for me right from the start. There were some other big franchises as well coming along and I remember the battle was going on. We, all of our team members were sitting together and watching the auction on TV,” Iyer stated.

“My heart was pumping, and I wasn’t able to control my emotions. I was trying to act relaxed, but you know, andar hi andar se (from inside), I was feeling a little nervous. Eventually, KKR got me, that feeling was amazing. I’m really proud, considering the rich history and to be coming into the KKR setup.”
