BAI writes to SAI to conduct nationwide camp forward of home season

In its bid to restart the home season underneath strict COVID-19 protocols after greater than a 12 months, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) has requested the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to approve a nationwide camp for the shuttlers within the first week of subsequent month.
According to BAI’s proposal, the camp, for each senior and junior shuttlers, will probably be held in three cities — Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore underneath strict COVID-19 protocols.
Around 70-75 gamers will probably be a part of the camp, together with prime gamers like Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy, N sikki Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa.
“The domestic badminton scene as well as the National Camp needs to resume if all goes well and the pandemic doesn’t have any more damaging impact on lives,” BAI basic secretary Ajay Kumar Singhania informed PTI.
“We have written to SAI proposing the resumption of the camp from the first week of August. We are awaiting to hear from them.”
BAI had final month mentioned that it has requested its state items to get their gamers and officers vaccinated for the resumption of the home season underneath strict COVID-19 pointers.
According to the rules of the BAI, gamers above the age of 18, coaches, technical officers, organising workforce and employees must be absolutely vaccinated and are required to hold their certificates with legitimate barcodes.
For the shuttlers under 18 years of age, will probably be made obligatory to hold a unfavourable RT-PCR report with a barcode, 96 hours previous to departure from their respective stations.
The 2021-22 season will kick-start with senior Ranking Tournaments, adopted by occasions in age classes.
