After 12 years, no century came out of Virat’s bat in the year

After a long gap of 12 years in the illustrious career of Indian captain and run machine Virat Kohli, no century was scored in any format in a calendar year. Virat left for home from Adelaide on Tuesday after playing the first Test of a four-Test series in Australia. India’s most successful Test captain Virat suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Australia in the first day-night Test played in Adelaide. In the second innings of this match, the Indian team was piled on its history minimum score of 36 runs.

Indian captain Virat is returning home due to the birth of his first child in January. This is the first time in Virat’s illustrious career after a long gap of 12 years when his bat has not scored a century in a calendar year. Virat started his ODI career in 2008 and he played five ODIs that year but did not score a century. After this Virat scored centuries in every year. 2020 is the only year in which Virat could not score a century in ODI or Test format. In the Corona-affected 2020, Virat played nine ODIs and scored 431 runs. His highest score this year was 89 runs.
