Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) chief Rakesh Tikait has been booked by the Karnataka police for scary farmers throughout a Mahapanchayat in Shivamogga March 20 to put siege to Bengaluru just like what was carried out in Delhi. A case has reportedly been filed towards Tikait at Kote police station below part 153 (wantonly giving provocation with the intent to trigger riot) of the Indian Penal Code.
“An FIR was filed against Rakesh Tikait for giving a speech that could have incited violence in the state and was filed by Shivamogga police”, Shekhar HT, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Shivamogga stated. Urging the farmers to accentuate the agitation towards the three farm legal guidelines enacted by the central authorities final 12 months, Tikait requested farmers to ‘make a Delhi in Bengaluru’. “You have to make a Delhi in Bengaluru…and surround the city from all directions”, he stated through the Mahapanchayat in Shivamogga. However, the organisers of the Mahapanchayat termed it an act towards the rules of democracy. The organisers alleged that the BJP is suppressing the voices towards the Centre.
Protestors primarily from Punjab, Haryana and components of Uttar Pradesh have been agitating towards the three farm legal guidelines at three Delhi border points- Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur- for greater than three months. They have been demanding repeal of the farm legal guidelines. Several rounds of talks between the central authorities and the ‘representatives’ of the ‘farmers’ have led to impasse with ‘farmer representatives’ being adamant on getting the legal guidelines repealed.
Delhi was engulfed in riots following a tractor rally by ‘farmers’ on Republic Day
In January, the ‘farmer representatives’ had referred to as for a tractor rally on Republic Day to accentuate the protest towards the three farm legal guidelines. Despite the ‘farmer representatives’ agreeing to limit the tractor rally to the routes accepted by the police, the protestors within the rally broke barricades and entered the nationwide capital. What adopted was an unprecedented scenario. The protestors barged into the purple fort, insulted the tricolour hoisted non secular flags atop it. Armed protestors unleashing violence on the streets of Delhi clashed with police personnel who have been making an attempt to cease them. Nearly 400 police personnel injured within the clashes with a few of them being admitted to the ICU.
Several FIRs have been registered by the police in reference to the Republic Day violence and lots of individuals have been arrested together with Khalisant supporter and actor-turned activist Deep Siddhu.
