NEW DELHI: Meta-owned WhatsApp banned a doc 74 lakh-plus accounts in India in April 2023.

The particulars had been furnished as part of their month-to-month report printed in accordance with the IT Rules 2021. The report covers the interval from April 1 to April 30 and particulars the measures taken by WhatsApp in response to grievances obtained from clients in India, accounts actioned for violating authorized pointers or phrases of service, and orders obtained from the Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC).

“In accordance with the IT Rules 2021, we’ve published our report for the month of April 2023. This user-safety report contains details of the user complaints received and the corresponding action taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp’s own preventive actions to combat abuse on our platform. As captured in the latest Monthly Report, WhatsApp banned over 7.4 million accounts in the month of April and over 2.4 million of these accounts were proactively banned, before any reports from users,” WhatsApp’s spokesperson acknowledged.

Meanwhile, Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg simply these days launched a model new WhatsApp attribute often called ‘Chat Lock’ to make clients’ most intimate conversations far more private.

This attribute lets you protect your most intimate conversations with a password and secures them in a separate folder. When any individual messages you and you have that chat locked, the sender’s determine and the content material materials of the message will even be hidden.
