Samant urges Maha CM to arrange welfare board for autorickshaw and taxi drivers

MUMBAI: Rebel Shiv Sena MLA Uday Samant on Thursday urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to kind a board for the welfare of autorickshaw and taxi drivers within the state on the strains of Tamil Nadu.

In a letter to Shinde, Samant stated the transfer will profit licensed 8.32 lakh autorickshaw and 90,000 taxi drivers and homeowners.

He stated Tamil Nadu has a welfare scheme for auto drivers they usually have been lined beneath the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982.

“The proposal to determine a board for the social safety and welfare of the auto drivers has been pending since 2013.

It is requested {that a} board for the auto and taxi drivers be shaped on the strains of Tamil Nadu,” Samant stated.

Samant, who’s a part of the insurgent Sena MLAs group, was a cabinet minister within the Uddhav Thackeray-led authorities.

Notably, in his preliminary days, Shinde additionally drove an auto-rickshaw to earn his livelihood.
