Rakesh Tikait launches dharna over arrest of BKU members; calls it off after talks with officers

MUZAFFARNAGAR: BKU chief Rakesh Tikait launched a dharna on Tuesday after the arrest of his group members, however known as it off later following talks with the district authorities right here on Tuesday.

Ten activists of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) have been arrested after a conflict on the district hospital right here on Monday night time.

Protesting on the Kotwali police station right here since Tuesday morning, Tikait demanded their fast launch, alleging that that they had been falsely implicated within the case.

Later within the day, he withdrew the dharna after Additional District Magistrate Narendra Bahadur Singh and Superintendent of Police (City) Arpit Vijayvargiya reached the spot and requested him to name it off.

Meanwhile, the police produced the ten arrested folks to courtroom, following which Chief Judicial Magistrate Manoj Kumar Jatav despatched them to 14 days of judicial custody.

According to medical officer of the district hospital, Dr Baburam, folks belonging to 2 teams had arrived on the facility on Monday.

While one group was being medically examined, the BKU activists started demanding the examination of the opposite group, resulting in a conflict, Dr Baburam mentioned.

Tikait, who can also be the BKU’s nationwide spokesperson, advised reporters that the district authorities wished to suppress his outfit by falsely implicating the activists.
