Guj HC seeks state govt reply on plea in opposition to use of loudspeakers by mosques

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat High Court has sought the state authorities’s reply on a public curiosity litigation (PIL) searching for a ban on the usage of loudspeakers for reciting ‘azaan’ (name to prayer) in mosques.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice A J Desai and Justice Biren Vaishnav on Monday allowed Shaktisinh Zala, a Bajrang Dal chief, to affix the PIL after the unique petitioner Dharmendra Prajapati sought to withdraw it citing threats.
