Zelenskyy speaks to Melitopol mayor on name, tells him ‘we don’t abandon our own’

The mayor was launched by Russian forces on Wednesday in change for 9 troopers captured by Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence on Wednesday launched footage of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy talking on name with a person, stated to be Melitopol’s mayor, who was launched by Russian forces after they detained him final week.

According to a video of the dialog uploaded on the ministry’s Twitter web page, mayor Ivan Fedorov thanked Zelenskyy for not “abandoning him,” to which the President replied, “We don’t abandon our own.”

Ukraine handed over 9 captured Russian troopers to safe the liberty of the mayor, the Interfax Ukraine information company quoted a senior official as saying on Wednesday.

Zelenskyy’s workplace earlier stated Fedorov had been launched however gave no particulars.

Fedorov was kidnapped on March 11 by Russian forces.
