By India Today World Desk: Firefighters rescued not less than 70 individuals trapped in gondolas on one of many world’s highest cable automotive methods in Ecuador on Friday.

Firefighters have been alerted round 4 pm native time Thursday of a technical failure that affected the Quito Cable Car, the Quito municipality stated in a press release. They launched a rescue effort within the highlands quickly after.

The assertion additional stated, “In total, the authorities rescued 27 people who had been suspended in the gondolas when the service was inoperative and 47 people who had been left without transportation on top of the mountain.”

Those rescued have been being transferred to a secure place and obtained medical evaluations, the municipality added.

The mayor of Quito, Pabel Muñoz, stated that nobody is injured within the incident and that the rescued individuals don’t present indicators of hypothermia or accidents.

Pabel ordered to droop the cable automobiles’ operation till investigations have been carried out.
