‘Vile, grossly wrong’: Indian diaspora in Australia condemns man convicted for raping 5 Korean women

By Abhishek Anand: The Indian diaspora in Australia have expressed their shock over the most recent arrest of Balesh Dhankhar, a excellent member of the neighborhood with political ties, on bills of raping 5 South Korean women.

Dhankhar, 43, was the highest of Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) Australia sooner than he resigned over the charges few years once more. He was convicted earlier this week on bills of rape.

Dr Yadu Singh, spokesperson, Federation of Indian Associations of New South Wales, said, “What Balesh Dhankhar had done was vile and grossly wrong. I strongly condemn him. The Indian community in Australia has a good reputation, which has been tarnished by the demonic activities of the convicted lowlife. He was the leader of several Indian community organizations in Sydney and was the founding president of OFBJP Australia, which is affiliated with the BJP.”

“The Indian community in Australia does not side or support such low lives within its fold and is hoping that the court will sentence him to a long-term jail punishment,” he added.

Prashant Singh, founder, Indian Australian Technology Forum, said that the Indian Australian neighborhood has been shocked previous notion by Dhankar’s crime.

“How can someone in a position of trust sink so low and commit such a heinous crime. This act tarnishes the reputation of a community that has made significant contributions to this country. We firmly believe in the rule of law, and criminals must face the full force of the law. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, and if there is anything the Indian Diaspora can do to help, we should,” said Prashant Singh.

Amit Jadonn, president, Federation of Indian Communities of Victoria, said, “The Australian-Indian community is reeling from the shocking and deeply saddening acts committed by Balesh Dhankar. His actions have brought great shame upon a community that is otherwise well-regarded. His victims and their families have suffered immeasurable grief and irreparable damage. It is disheartening to learn from the media that he showed little remorse for his heinous actions and that he preyed upon his vulnerable victims in a cunning manner. While his conviction cannot erase the harm he caused, it is a relief that justice has been served and that his punishment may prevent him from hurting others in the future.”

ABOUT THE CASE

Balesh Dhankhar has been convicted of drugging and raping 5 Korean women and filming the acts on a hidden digital digital camera, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. He confronted trial over 39 bills, along with 13 counts of rape devoted between January and October 2018.

Dhankhar was arrested on October 21, 2018, after his fifth sufferer awoke whereas he was assaulting her, and despatched messages to a buddy whereas hiding inside the bathroom.

When police searched Dhankhar’s condominium in October 2018, they discovered 47 motion pictures of him having sexual exercise with women, a couple of of whom have been unconscious whereas others have been struggling and groaning as if in agony.
