Four injured males in Russian uniform had been mendacity on the pavement in a pool of blood. “Three of them have head wounds and blood is pooled around the body of a fourth, who has a jacket pulled over his head and seems to be rasping. ‘He’s still alive,’ says one man, in Russian. ‘He’s gasping,’ CNN reported.

A soldier then pointed a rifle and fired two shots at the body. He paused and fired again until the body started moving.

The person who was narrating to the camera also turned to film a Russian infantry fighting vehicle with a “V” marking similar to that seen on Russian military hardware operated by many units in Ukraine. A man could be heard saying, “Somewhat trophy,” while another said “Slava Ukrayini!” [glory to Ukraine].

This came after images and videos of people lying dead on the streets of Bucha, some with their hands tied behind them, emerged after the Russian pullout from the outskirts of Kyiv. The grisly images of battered bodies left out in the open or hastily buried drew global condemnation and calls for investigation and tougher actions against Russia.

Reuters journalists who visited Bucha on Saturday saw bodies lying on the streets of the town, 37 km (23 miles) northwest of the capital Kyiv. A mass grave at one church was still open, with hands and feet poking through the red clay heaped on top.

Ukraine accused Russian forces on Sunday of carrying out a “bloodbath” in the town, one of many recaptured by Ukrainian troops as Russia regrouped for battles in eastern Ukraine. Russia denied the allegations, calling them a “provocation” by Ukraine.
