Vandalism at historic Christian grave in Jerusalem sparks outcry

By India Today Web Desk: Men carrying Jewish spiritual clothes had been seen smashing a stone cross within the historic Jerusalem cemetery, sparking condemnation from Church leaders. The visuals of vandalism on the Protestant cemetery on Mount Zion have mounted stress on Israel to crack down on hardline settlers in Jerusalem, The Guardian reported.

As per the report, far-right settlers are answerable for the desecration of greater than 30 Christian graves in latest occasions.

Nir Hasson, a reporter from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, tweeted the footage, saying it confirmed “two Jews vandalising graves”. The footage confirmed two younger males carrying kippas on their heads and knotted tzitzit tassels on their garments. The identical footage was shared by Wafa News Agency.

Israel has condemned the assault, calling it an “immoral act” and “an affront to religion”. An investigation has been launched, however the Israeli police are but to verify any arrests.
