UK Hospital stuns sufferers with ‘Cancer’ message as a substitute of ‘Christmas’ want

By India Today Web Desk: At least 8,000 sufferers within the United Kingdom, by mistake, obtained an automatic message from their physician’s workplace that they have been dying of “aggressive lung cancer” as a substitute of “Merry Christmas”.

The sufferers, within the textual content message, have been instructed to fill out a DS1500 kind, which permits individuals with terminal illnesses to assert advantages.

However, about an hour later, individuals obtained a second textual content telling them it was an error and it was meant to want them a merry Christmas as a substitute, the BBC reported.

“Our message to you should have read, ‘We wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year,” the workplace wrote within the second textual content, clarifying the primary message.

Ms Hargreaves, one of many receivers of the textual content, mentioned after she obtained the unique textual content whereas she was out buying, she “felt sick to my teeth and broke down”.

“I had just had a mole removed and was awaiting a result from a biopsy, and I had been to hospital as my smear test came back abnormal, so yes, I was very worried, she was quoted as saying by the BBC.”

Patient Vicky Southgate wrote on social media that she was “close to tears” after receiving the message, reported the Telegraph.

“Something’s clearly not right at Askern Medical Practice. Fuming. I received this message, and I’m not the only one. I was shaking and close to tears,” she mentioned.
