U.S. to blacklist Myanmar army firms after lethal crackdown: Sources

The United States is planning to impose sanctions on two conglomerates managed by Myanmar’s army over the generals Feb. 1 coup and a lethal crackdown, two sources aware of the matter mentioned on Wednesday.
The transfer by the U.S. Treasury to blacklist Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) and Myanma Economic Holdings Ltd (MEHL) and freeze any property they maintain within the United States may come as early as Thursday, sources mentioned.
