Twelve injured as hardline Islamist activists assault devotees inside mosque in Bangladesh

Activists of a hardline Islamist group attacked devotees inside a mosque in northern Bangladesh, injuring at the least 12 individuals, in accordance with a media report.
The incident came about on Friday on the mosque within the Gaibandha district when self-proclaimed Hefazat-e-Islam activists snatched the mic from the Imam and preached in regards to the organisation, Dhaka Tribune reported.
They attacked the devotees who tried to intervene, Imam Motlob Uddin stated.
At least 12 males have been injured within the assault, the report stated.
A case is being filed at Sundarganj Police Station.
Officer in Charge Bulbul Islam stated: “Disagreements over the mosque’s committee is the reason for this untoward incident.”
