Shooting breaks out at July 4th parade in Chicago suburb of Highland Park

Gunfire erupted at a Fourth of July parade route within the rich Chicago suburb of Highland Park on Monday, the Lake County Sheriff’s workplace stated, with a neighborhood TV station saying at the very least two folks had been killed.

“STAY OUT OF THE AREA – allow law-enforcement and first responders to do their work,” the sheriff’s division stated on Twitter, including that deputies had been helping Highland Park police.

WGN TV, citing unidentified legislation enforcement sources, stated at the very least two folks had been killed and a number of folks had been injured. The suspect stays at massive, WGN reported, citing a legislation enforcement supply.

U.S. Representative Brad Schneider, whose district contains Highland Park, stated he and his marketing campaign workforce had been gathering at the beginning of the parade when the taking pictures began.

“Hearing of loss of life and others injured. My condolences to the family and loved ones; my prayers for the injured and for my community,” Schneider stated on Twitter. “Enough is enough!”

The parade was instantly halted when pictures had been fired about 10 minutes after it started, sending a whole lot of individuals working for security, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

People fled the scene upon listening to a number of loud bangs, CBS 2 tv of Chicago reported, citing a producer who was on the parade.

“Everyone was running, hiding and screaming,” CBS 2 Digital Producer Elyssa Kaufman stated, the channel’s web site reported.
