Second part of Malabar train from Oct 12-15, US to deploy nuclear-powered plane

The multilateral maritime train will happen within the Bay of Bengal from October 12-15, 2021.

“The Indian Navy’s participation includes INS Ranvijay, INS Satpura, P8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft and a Submarine,” a press release from the navy stated.The US Navy shall be represented by nuclear-powered US plane provider Carl Vinson together with two destroyers, USS Lake Champlain and USS Stockdale. The JMSDF will deploy helicopter provider JS Kaga and Murasame-class destroyers JS Murasame whereas the Royal Australian Navy shall be represented by HMAS Ballarat and HMAS Sirius.“The second phase of the exercise would build upon the synergy, coordination and interoperability developed during the first phase and would focus on advanced surface and anti-submarine warfare exercises, seamanship evolution, and weapon firings,” Indian Navy spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal stated.The first part of the Malabar train was carried out within the Philippines Sea from August 26 to August 29.WHAT IS THE MALABAR EXERCISE?The Malabar sequence of workout routines started as an annual bilateral naval train between India and the US in 1992. In 2015, JMSDF joined Malabar as a everlasting member.
