Powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake strikes Morocco, some harm reported

A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck central Morocco late on Friday, the US Geological Survey stated, shaking buildings in close by Marrakesh and sending panicked residents out into the streets.

The scale of the harm was not instantly clear.

The quake’s epicentre was at a comparatively shallow depth of 18.5 km and occurred about 72 km southwest of Marrakesh and 56 km west of the Atlas Mountain city of Oukaimeden at simply after 11 pm native time, in keeping with the USGS.
