PM Modi meets Japan’s Kishida, condoles Shinzo Abe’s demise

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida and expressed condolences on the demise of former PM Shinzo Abe. PM Modi flew to Tokyo to attend Abe’s state funeral.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida on Tuesday. In a bilateral assembly, the 2 leaders mentioned the matter associated to India-Japan relations which have grown exponentially previously few years.

PM Modi had flown to Tokyo on Monday to attend the previous Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s state funeral.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote, “Had a fruitful meeting with PM Kishida. We discussed various bilateral subjects. I conveyed my condolences on the tragic demise of former PM Shinzo Abe”.

“PM Narendra Modi met Japanese PM Fumio Kishida & extended his deepest condolences on the untimely demise of former PM Shinzo Abe. Also had a useful exchange on further enhancing bilateral relations and working together towards the realisation of a free, open & inclusive Indo-Pacific,” tweeted Arindam Bagchi, official spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs.

Abe, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, was assassinated on July 8 whereas delivering a speech at a political occasion in Nara City in Japan. The Indian authorities had introduced at some point of nationwide mourning on July 9.
