Peshawar mosque blast: Visuals present scene of devastation after suicide assault

A  blast inside a mosque in Pakistan’s Peshawar, which is near former tribal areas that border Afghanistan, has put the nation on excessive alert.

By India Today Web Desk: Nearly 50 folks, together with law enforcement officials and an imam, have been killed and over 100 wounded in a blast at a mosque in Pakistan’s Peshawar. The explosion precipitated a complete wall to break down, trapping a number of folks. Pakistan Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif known as the blast a suicide assault.

The blast occurred throughout afternoon prayers on Monday. A video shot within the aftermath of the blast reveals the mosque with certainly one of its wall and parts of its roof collapsed.

Police officers have been amongst those that misplaced their lives within the lethal blast. “Many policemen are buried beneath the rubble,” Peshawar police chief Muhammad Ijaz Khan was quoted as saying by information company AFP. He estimated that between 300 and 400 officers often attended prayers on the mosque.

The provincial capital of Peshawar is near former tribal areas that border Afghanistan the place militancy has been steadily rising.

Following the blast, the nation has been placed on excessive alert, with checkpoints ramped up and further safety forces deployed. In Islamabad, snipers have been deployed on buildings and at metropolis entrance factors.

“Terrorists want to create fear by targeting those who perform the duty of defending Pakistan,” Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated.

“Those preventing towards Pakistan will probably be worn out from the face of earth,” he added.
