Residents within the Australian city of Mildura have been left puzzled on Wednesday after the night sky was full of an odd pink glow.

Photos posted on social media present how the dim, cloudy sky was illuminated with a brilliant pink circle. There additionally seemed to be a cone of sunshine directed upwards from the bottom, suggesting that the pink gentle had a ground-based supply.

The phenomenon sparked jokes from a few observers, together with references to aliens or the favored paranormal drama sequence Stranger Things.
