By India Today Web Desk: After a UK media report claimed that bombs from the Myanmarese army had been dropped on the Indian facet of the border, sources within the Indian defence institution denied the assault. No operation or motion occurred on Indian territory, the defence institution sources instructed information company PTI. Reports claimed that the Myanmar army launched an air strike on a coaching camp for pro-democracy forces, which resulted in two bombs falling on the Indian facet.

The Guardian, quoting eyewitnesses, reported that the Myanmar army launched an airstrike on a outstanding coaching camp for pro-democracy forces near the Indian border, with jets dropping no less than two bombs inside Indian territory. Two locals on the Indian facet in Farkawan village, situated within the state of Mizoram, mentioned that two bombs had been dropped on the Indian facet of the border however nobody was damage, the report additional added.

Rama, president of Farkawan village council, instructed the Guardian, “A truck from our side was damaged by one bomb, which was parked near Tiau river. Some people from Myanmar side have crossed over the border after the bombing and people in our village are helping them and the injured. We could see that the bombing was carried out by three fighter jets and two helicopters.” (sic)

There was nothing on the Indian facet and no operation or motion occurred on the Indian facet of the border, the sources instructed PTI.

On February 1, 2021, Myanmar’s army grabbed energy within the coup and imposed a state of emergency after detaining Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and different leaders of her National League for Democracy (NLD). The nation has been witnessing protests demanding the restoration of democracy.

Myanmar is certainly one of India’s strategic neighbours and it shares a 1,640-km-long border with various northeastern states together with militancy-hit Nagaland and Manipur.
