By India Today World Desk: Billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch is engaged to marry for the fifth time, he informed his personal tabloid newspaper, the New York Post on Monday. The 92-year-old media titan is engaged to Ann Lesley Smith (66) and stated he is aware of this marriage can be his final.

“I was very nervous. I dreaded falling in love — but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy,” he informed the New York Post.

Murdoch’s enterprise empire contains Fox News within the US and the rightwing tabloid the Sun within the UK. As the pinnacle of News Corporation, he additionally owns the New York Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the publishing home Harper Collins.

HOW DID THE TWO MEET?

Murdoch and Ann Lesley Smith met in September of 2022 at a 200-person occasion held at his Moraga winery in Bel Air, California. “I met her and we talked a bit. Two weeks later I called her,” said Murdoch, recounting his first meeting with his fiancee.

Murdoch has been married four times and has six children from his first three marriages. He had Prudence MacLeod, with his first wife Patricia Booker and sons Lachlan and James with his second wife Anna Mann. He has two more daughters – Grace and Chloe – with his third wife, Wendi Deng. Murdoch’s fourth wife was the former supermodel Jerry Hall, from whom he split in 2022.

Ann Smith has also been married twice before. According to the New York Post, her first marriage was to the Huntington railroad family in San Francisco. Later, she married Chester Smith, who had founded the Spanish TV giant Univision. Smith died in 2008.

Speaking to the New York Post, Ann said, “I’m a widow 14 years. Like Rupert, my husband was a businessman. Worked for native papers, developed radio and TV stations and helped promote Univision. So I communicate Rupert’s language. We share the identical beliefs.”

She additional added, “In perspective, it’s not my first rodeo. Getting near 70 means being in the last half. I waited for the right time. Friends are happy for me. For us both it’s a gift from God.”

The couple will break up their time between California, Britain, Montana and New York, the paper reported.
