‘Hero of Ukraine’: Zelenskyy honours fighter pilot who took bloodied face selfie

By India Today Web Desk: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on Friday, honoured the fighter pilot who took a selfie of his bloodied face after ejecting from his airplane as “Hero of Ukraine,” reported Newsweek.

Vadym Voroshylov, a army pilot who holds the rank of a Major within the Ukrainian armed forces, took a selfie of his bloodied face after taking pictures down an Iranian-produced Shahed-136 drone over the Ukrainian metropolis of Vinnytsia after which ejecting from his jet simply earlier than its crash.

“Major Vadym Oleksandrovych Voroshylov shall be awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and be presented with the Order of the Gold Star,” Zelensky introduced.

“This title is awarded for personal courage and heroism displayed in the protection of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for selfless service to the Ukrainian people,” the Ukrainian president mentioned.
