Hate crime in US elevated by 12 per cent in 2021: FBI report

By Press Trust of India: Hate crimes within the US elevated by about 12 per cent in 2021, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has mentioned, highlighting that 64.5 per cent of victims had been focused due to race or ancestry bias.

In an replace of its annual report issued on Monday, the FBI additionally mentioned that 43.2 per cent of the entire crimes recorded had been associated to intimidation.

“Nationally, reported hate crime incidents increased 11.6 per cent from 8,120 in 2020 to 9,065 in 2021,” the FBI mentioned, including that the up to date dataset for 2021 consists of all regulation enforcement company hate crime incident reporting.

The up to date hate crime dataset stories contain 10,840 incidents and 12,411 associated offences.

Over 10,500 single-bias incidents concerned 12,411 victims, the report mentioned.
