By Press Trust of India: Unknown assailants on Wednesday opened hearth at a police officer who was reviewing safety preparations made for a group of polio vaccination staff in northwest Pakistan, officers mentioned.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Shuaib, nevertheless, escaped unharmed within the skirmish.

Shuaib was reviewing safety preparations for the polio vaccination group at Koi Bhara in Dera Ismail Khan district in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakthunkhwa province, when unidentified gunmen opened hearth on the DPO car, police mentioned.

Police have launched a large search operation to nab the culprits.
