Florida Governor takes over Disney district as punishment for opposing ‘Don’t say Gay’ legislation

As punishment for opposing the “Don’t Say Gay” legislation, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis seized management of Walt Disney World’s self-governing district.

By India Today World Desk: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a invoice on Monday to grab management of Walt Disney World’s self-governing district as punishment for the leisure firm opposing the “Don’t Say Gay” legislation.

Signing the invoice, Republican Ron DeSantis mentioned the “corporate kingdom finally comes to an end”, mentioned a report by AP information. “There’s a new sheriff in town, and accountability will be the order of the day,” he added.

Disney had criticised the legislation which bans college classes on sexual orientation and gender id in kindergarten by way of third grade.

As per the invoice, Ron DeSantis will appoint his personal board to supervise the companies offered within the theme park by Disney. The invoice taking on the Disney district comes forward of DeSantis’s anticipated bid for the 2024 presidential elections.

A report in AFP mentioned DeSantis’s transfer is seen by Democrats as a part of a broader effort to reform establishments which he believes have been hijacked by “woke” progressive activists.

Walt Disney World, close to Orlando, is the most important theme park on the earth and has been ruled because it opened within the Nineteen Seventies by the Reedy Creek Improvement District. Reedy Creek is an unbiased authority with administration autonomy that exempted it from most state laws.

However, its board was elected by landowners, and Disney owns two-thirds of the district. Disney mentioned it won’t combat the reforms.
