A male lawmaker in opposition slapped a feminine lawmaker within the Senegal parliament after she criticised a religious chief who’s a critic of President Macky Sall’s third time period.

By India Today Web Desk: A male lawmaker within the Senegal parliament slapped a feminine lawmaker – of the ruling coalition Benno Bokk Yakaar (BBY) – throughout a funds session.

Massata Samb, an opposition lawmaker, reached out to Amy Ndiaye Gniby and slapped her within the parliament, a video clip confirmed.

Following the incident, an enormous scuffle erupted between the lawmakers. Gniby was seen throwing a chair at Samb earlier than stumbling and falling. Lawmakers had been seen making an attempt to separate each from preventing. The session was suspended as lawmakers exchanged verbal barbs.

The scenario unfolded over criticism by Gniby of a religious chief against a 3rd time period of President Macky Sall.

“Mister president, a deputy has stood in front of this tribune to insult someone’s marabout [spiritual leader],” Samb was quoted as saying by the information company Reuters.

After Gniby reportedly mockingly smirked at Samb’s remarks and declared that she didn’t care, Samb walked over and hit her.

Tensions have grown between ruling and opposition politicians since a July legislative election by which the ruling celebration misplaced its snug majority, broken partially by considerations President Macky Sall will search a 3rd time period in 2024, reported Reuters.
