Caught on cam: Ohio cop repeatedly punches Black girl in face as she is detained

A video of a cop punching a Black girl within the face whereas making an arrest surfaced. An investigation has been launched towards two law enforcement officials within the case.

By India Today Web Desk: Two law enforcement officials within the US state of Ohio are underneath investigation after a video of one in every of them allegedly punching a black girl within the face whereas making an arrest surfaced.

The video got here to mild on Tuesday, January 17, when native media shared footage on Facebook from a bystander displaying a Butler Township officer repeatedly punching the girl.

The video apparently confirmed Sergeant Todd Stanley grappling with the girl and punching her not less than 3 times within the face following a row over an order at McDonald’s. Stanley and his colleague, Tim Zellers, then detain the girl, later recognized as Latinka Hancock.

In the footage, Hancock could be seen talking to the officers as she tries to push them away. A cop on the left, Tim Zellers, seems to be pointing a stun gun in his proper hand at Hancock. Meanwhile, an officer to the fitting, Todd Stanley, holds her arm and shoulder.

When Hancock waves her palms round, Stanley punches her within the face a number of instances till Hancock falls again on the hood of the cruiser. The officers then maintain Hancock towards the automobile as Zellers handcuffs her.

Lawyer for Hancock mentioned she suffered a bloody face and concussion, and needed to be taken to hospital for therapy.

“This incident is currently under investigation in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, as is the case whenever force is used in an arrest,” The Independent quoted the police division as saying.

On Wednesday, John Porter, chief of the Butler Township Police pressure, held a press convention and guaranteed a good investigation can be carried out. He mentioned the officer, a 22-year veteran of the pressure, had been positioned on administrative go away. Porter claimed the officers had been attempting to guide Hancock for trespassing however that she didn’t cooperate.

“We take these incidents very seriously and we are looking into them and we are going to conduct a thorough investigation,” Porter was quoted by Independent as saying. “We’re going to go as deep as we can into this.
