Bilawal Bhutto slams Rs 2 crore bounty on his head for anti-Modi comment, says ‘crossed the line’

By India Today Web Desk: Pakistan international minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday lashed out on the ruling BJP after a saffron celebration chief allegedly introduced a Rs 2 crore bounty on his head over his objectionable remarks in opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Zardari doubled down on his “butcher of Gujarat” remark in opposition to PM Modi and stated his remarks had been primarily based on “historical fact”, however the BJP was decoding it as a “personal insult”.

“A member of Mr Modi’s party has announced Rs 20 million (2 crore) bounty on my head. So I don’t think the best way to disprove the fact that Mr Modi is the ‘butcher of Gujarat’ is to adopt such extreme steps,” he stated.

Responding to a question, Zardari additionally downplayed fellow minister Shazia Marri’s assertion whereby she threatened India with “nuclear war.”

WHAT BILAWAL BHUTTO SAID

Responding to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s ‘Osama killed in Pakistan’ comment on the UN, Pakistan’s international minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari attacked PM Modi over the 2002 Gujarat riots.

“(I want to tell India) that Osama bin Laden is dead, but the butcher of Gujarat lives and he is the Prime Minister of India. He (PM Modi) was banned from entering this country until he became the prime minister. This is the prime minister of the RSS and the foreign minister of the RSS. What is the RSS? The RSS takes inspiration from Hitler’s SS,” Zardari stated.

The BJP had termed Zardari’s private feedback in opposition to PM Narendra Modi as “highly shameful and derogatory” and staged nationwide protests to vent its spleen in opposition to the Pakistani minister. BJP leaders and staff burnt effigies of Zardari and raised anti-Pakistan slogans throughout the demonstrations.
