‘Bad manners’, says Fiji PM when requested about China at meet with S Jaishankar

Fijian Prime Minister, when requested about China following a bilateral assembly with S Jaishankar, mentioned it was “bad manners” to speak about individuals of their absence.

By India Today Web Desk: Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka held a bilateral assembly with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday. After the assembly, when the Fiji PM was requested if China was a part of the dialogue, he mentioned it was “bad manners” to speak about any person who was not current within the constructing.

“We thought it was bad manners to talk about somebody who is not in the building. We spoke about our own cooperation, and we’re very fortunate to have such a great power and economy talking to us,” mentioned Rabuka whereas addressing the press.

Jaishankar, in a joint press convention with Rubaka, mentioned India and Fiji signed and exchanged visa waiver settlement and expressed hope that it will assist in encouraging higher journey between our two nations.

The Fijian prime minister asserted that the nations shares shut and long-standing ties, which is basically based mostly on people-to-people linkages.

“We have been privileged to partner with Fiji in its nation-building efforts across various sectors, in working with it in capacity building; in areas like health, education, agriculture; we’ve done projects in the Sugarcane industry; we’ve worked together in renewable energy; and I think today one part of our discussion looked at areas like IT and support for Medium and Small enterprises. So there is really a very, very substantive bilateral agenda before us,” he was quoted as saying by the information company PTI.

“We have great old friends and there is no need to look for new friends. There are no really new friends in this region. We have been friends with India, and we have been friends with China. We’ll continue our relationship,” he mentioned.
