After skipping India’s safety dialogue on Afghanistan, China to attend Pakistan’s Troika Plus meet

China stated on Wednesday that it’ll attend a gathering on Afghanistan convened by its all-weather ally Pakistan, after skipping a safety dialogue hosted by India on the state of affairs within the war-torn nation, citing “scheduling reasons”.
Pakistan will host senior diplomats from the US, China and Russia in Islamabad on Thursday to debate the state of affairs in neighbouring Afghanistan. The Troika Plus assembly shall be attended by particular representatives from all 4 nations.

Asked whether or not China would attend the assembly in Islamabad, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin informed a media briefing right here that “China supports Pakistan in hosting this extended meeting of the China-US-Russia consultation mechanism and supports all international efforts conducive to promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan and building consensus among all parties.”
“Yue Xiaoyong, Special Envoy for Afghan affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, will lead a delegation to attend the meeting,” he stated.
On Tuesday, Wang stated that China wouldn’t attend the safety dialogue on Afghanistan convened by India attributable to “scheduling reasons”. He stated China has notified the Indian aspect in reply.
