While Kyiv welcomed the decision, Russia rejected it, calling the conviction of its two residents a “scandalous” determination by the Dutch courtroom. Moscow has repeatedly denied duty for the downing of the jet.

“The trial in the Netherlands has every chance of becoming one of the most scandalous in the history of legal proceedings,” Russia’s international ministry stated in a press release.
