By India Today Web Desk: The security forces in Pakistan’s South Waziristan on Thursday killed 11 terrorists in an intelligence-based operation to curtail the rising militancy in the country.

“While conducting the intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area, the security forces successfully “foiled a high-profile terrorist activity,” Inter-Services Public Relations Pakistan (ISPR), the country’s military’s media wing, was quoted as saying by the Geo News.

The 11 terrorists eliminated by the forces include the local terrorist commander Hafiz Ullah and two suicide bombers, and recovered weapons and ammunition in huge numbers.

“The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and target killing of police in South Waziristan district,” said the ISPR.

Pakistan has recently witnessed a rise in militant attacks reportedly after the country’s banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) abandoned the ceasefire in November last year.

The relations between Taliban-ruled Afghanistan and Pakistan are also strained after Islamabad accused the Taliban of letting its land be used to harbour terrorism against Pakistan.

The ISPR said the militants had remained “actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens”, reported the Dawn.
