Regulators instruct telecom operators to promptly notify of any community disruption

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed all telecom service suppliers to promptly inform them of any community outages and supply an in depth account of the basis causes and subsequent corrective measures taken.

Telecom operators should report back to the TRAI in case of steady outages for a interval of greater than 4 hours. The report have to be submitted inside 24 hours of their incidence.

In an announcement, the telecom authority mentioned that incidences of main community outages of telecom networks are occurring attributable to technical causes or attributable to pure calamities, and will not be reported by the operators.
