‘We have been pressured to drink rest room water’, say Kerala sailors launched from captivity in Nigeria

KOCHI: Three sailors from Kerala, who have been launched from Nigerian captivity after 10 months and reached house on June 10, informed media individuals that they have been pressured to drink rest room water in captivity.

The three, Sanu Joseph from Kochi, who was the Chief Officer of the Ship; Heroic Idun together with V VIjith, third officer of the ship from Kollam and Milton D’ couth, who was the ship’s oiler from Mulavukad in Kochi, reached house on Saturday.

The ship together with its crew have been taken into custody first by Equatorial Guinea on allegations that the ship had crossed its territorial waters and have been there in custody for 3 months.

According to studies, the 26-member crew, comprising 16 Indians – three of them Keralites – eight Sri Lankans, in addition to a Polish and a Filipino, have been first detained in Equatorial Guinea in August 2022 and moved to Nigeria in November.
