Two elephants wander on NH 16 in Khordha, visitors halted

Khordha: Panic gripped commuters, who have been travelling on National Highway 16 close to Daleipur within the district, as two elephants have been discovered wandering on the street this morning. People and motorists have been stranded for practically an hour on the route.
On being knowledgeable, forest officers rushed to the spot and suggested folks to not tease the wild animals and maintain a secure distance from them.
According to stories, the wild animals step by step disappeared into Jaripada forest following which the visitors motion returned to normalcy. No one has been damage and no harm has been completed through the raid by the pachyderms.
“The rampant rise in the population, industrialisation and urbanisation has taken over the open spaces. Forests have been cut down to build bridges and expand the city. We have been encroaching upon the natural abode of animals and leaving hardly anything for them to flourish. That is why we often see wild animals and jumbos breaking into the city that was once their home,” mentioned an environmentalist.
Earlier in October final yr, a herd of untamed elephants had left the folks of Athagarh space in a state of panic and adversely affected the street communication by often obstructing National Highways and Railway tracks.
On October 28, GurudijhatiaMatsyapur Railway monitor and National Highway close to Bali had been dropped at a jumbo halt as a herd of pachyderms have been discovered crossing the street dangerously.
