UGC grants recognition to Kalahandi University

BHUBANESWAR: The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Wednesday recognised the Kalahandi unitary college as a college beneath Section 2 (F) of UGC Act, 1956.

Informing this, Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan mentioned the choice is anticipated to satisfy the expectations of scholars in Kalahandi and the encompassing districts, and supply high quality schooling by the National Education Policy.

Once the college completes all of the formalities, it would obtain  Central grants, he mentioned and added that the grants will strengthen the college’s infrastructure.

The Ministry in a notification on Wednesday mentioned that Kalahandi University has to make sure that no off campus centre/research centre is opened past its jurisdiction or exterior the State. Also, no open and distance studying programmes shall be began with out prior recognition of UGC. 

In 2019, the State authorities had upgraded the Bhawanipatna Autonomous Government College as Kalahandi unitary college beneath the Odisha Universities Act of 1989.
